Maurizio Chisari aka Chisari is a Sicilian singer-songwriter born in 1983, originally from Catania.
He approaches music very early, as a child, but to gain the upper hand in the early years of his life is dance (his parents were taught dance) and today he carries out his profession as an athletic trainer parallel to the work of author and songwriter. for dancers: the need to write songs arose when Maurizio was eighteen.
He therefore decides to participate in various competitions (Radar, AlscoltAutori, Fabrizio De Andre 'Prize, Sanremo Area) some of which he also wins: among these also Area Sanremo for the 2011 edition together with the singer-songwriter Stefano Cherchi with the song "Confini "In Sardinian, Sicilian and Italian and the competition for authors" Genoa x you 2016 ", which leads him to become an author for Universal Music Publishing for a year of contract-internship.
On October 28, 2016 his first album entitled "Due" is released, produced by the Paperboatsongs label, distributed by Believe Digital. The album is anticipated by the release of the singles Eyes to the sea, Malintenti, Nudo and finally Bianco.
"Due" investigates the experience of living together and becomes like a concept on the number that Maurizio likes to define "imperfect".
Over thirty dates in major Italian cities and two years of tour to present the debut album in clubs, squares and theaters.
Finally, March and April 2018 see Chisari live protagonist of "Music in miniature", the tour in the smallest and most beautiful historical theaters in Italy of which he is also the creator. Accompanied by an international band, the tour extended to ten different regions of our peninsula.
In May 2019 he recorded a first album in English in the studio thanks to a crownfounding campaign of which he also realizes the live presentation in Veneto for some of the campaign participants. The release of the album was scheduled for 2020 and will be postponed due to the pandemic.
In July 2019 Maurizio makes a big leap and decides to move to Sydney in Australia where he currently lives and composes his music. A few months after his arrival, the fortuitous encounter with the Australian mandoloncellist and guitarist of Sicilian origins Luke Wright (his grandmother was from the island of Lipari) takes place. This meeting leads him to a change of course and to experience his origins, his true Sicilian nature.
On April 21, 2021, the release of La Jaggia, the single that will anticipate the album "D’amuri e raggia", which will then be released on May 21, 2021.
The project entirely in Sicilian is the result of experimental research done in Australia by Maurizio and Luke recorded at the Damien Gerard Sound Studios on the Central Coast under the supervision of the American sound engineer Andrew Back. The Australian drummer and percussionist of Lebanese origins Micheal Nouri also collaborated on the recordings.
The mastering of the disc, on the other hand, was carried out at the King Willy Sound studios in Tasmania.
In 2022 on the occasion of the next concert, a tribute to Franco Battiato, at the Auditorium of the Italian Forum Center organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney Maurizio changes his pseudonym using his original surname in full "Chisari" (from Maurizio Chi) marking thus a turning point in his musical projects.

Maurizio Chisari in arte Chisari è un cantautore siciliano classe 1983, originario di Catania.
Si avvicina alla musica molto presto, da bambino, ma a prendere il sopravvento nei primi anni della sua vita è il ballo (i suoi genitori erano insegnati di danza) e ad oggi svolge parallelamente al lavori di autore e cantautore la sua professione come preparatore atletico per danzatori : l'esigenza di scrivere canzoni nasce quando Maurizio ha diciotto anni.
Lui decide dunque di partecipare a diversi concorsi (Radar, AlscoltAutori, Premio Fabrizio De Andre’ , Area Sanremo) alcuni dei quali li vince pure: tra questi anche Area Sanremo per l’edizione del 2011 insieme al cantautore Stefano Cherchi con il brano “Confini” in sardo, siciliano e italiano ed il concorso per autori “Genova x voi 2016” , che lo porta a diventare autore per Universal Music Publishing per un anno di contratto-stage.
Il 28 ottobre 2016 esce i suo primo album dal titolo “Due” prodotto dalla label Paperboatsongs, distribuito da Believe Digital . L’album è anticipato dall’uscita dei singoli Gli occhi al mare, Malintenti ,Nudo e in ultimo Bianco.
“Due” indaga sull’esperienza della convivenza e diventa come un concept sul numero che a Maurizio piace definire “imperfetto”.
Oltre trenta date nelle principali città italiane e due anni di tour per presentare l’album d’esordio tra club, piazze e teatri.
Marzo e Aprile 2018 infine vedono Chisari protagonista dal vivo di “Musiche in miniatura” il tour nei teatri storici più piccoli e belli d’Italia del quale è anche ideatore . Accompagnato da una band internazionale il tour si è esteso in dieci differenti regioni della nostra penisola.
A maggio del 2019 registra in studio un primo album in inglese grazie ad una campagna di crownfounding del quale realizza anche la presentazione live in Veneto per alcuni dei partecipanti alla campagna. La pubblicazione dell’album era prevista per il 2020 verrà rimandata a causa della pandemia.
Nel luglio del 2019 Maurizio compie un grande salto e decide di trasferirsi a Sydney in Australia dove attualmente vive e compone la sua musica. Pochi mesi dopo il suo arrivo avviene l’incontro fortuito con il mandoloncellista e chitarrista australiano di origini siciliane Luke Wright (la nonna era dell’isola di Lipari). Questo incontro lo porta ad un cambio di rotta ed a sperimentare le sue origini, la sua natura vera da siciliano.
Il 21 aprile 2021 l’uscita di La Jaggia, il singolo che anticiperà l’album “D’amuri e raggia” di cui l’uscita avverrà poi il 21 maggio 2021.
Il progetto interamente in siciliano è il frutto di una ricerca sperimentale fatta in terra australiana da Maurizio e Luke registrato presso lo studio Damien Gerard Sound Studios nella Central Coast con la supervisione dell’ingegnere del suono americano Andrew Back. A collaborare alle registrazioni anche il batterista e percussionista australiano di origini libanesi Micheal Nouri.
Il mastering del disco, invece, è stato realizzato presso gli studi King Willy Sound in Tasmania.
Nel 2022 in occasione del prossimo concerto, tributo a Franco Battiato, presso l'Auditorium dell' Italian Forum Centre organizzato in collaborazione con l'Istituto Italiano di cultura di Sydney Maurizio cambia il suo pseudonimo utilizzando il suo cognome originale per intero " Chisari" (da Maurizio Chi) segnando cosi una svolta nei suoi progetti musicali.
